Dakota Fanning: Little Miss Fashionista?

Move over, Lourdes, there’s another prepubescent style princess in town: Dakota Fanning is the fashion industry’s latest (and most likely, youngest) darling. Not only was the precocious 12-year-old shot by none other than Karl Lagerfeld for the January issue of Vanity Fair, but Marc Jacobs chose the Charlotte’s Web star to be the face of his ad campaign which breaks in the February issues of Vogue and W. (He commissioned smaller versions of his adult clothes for the actress.) That tapping sound you hear is Abigail Breslin furiously calling her agent.

It’s a Sunglass Faceoff! Angelina vs. Gwen

Yesterday, we raved about Angelina’s fabulous winter white look and fell completely in love with her new Tom Ford sunglasses. Apparently, Angelina isn’t the only about-town-star who owns a pair. We spotted Gwen Stefani wearing the same glasses around New York City this weekend as well! We can’t decide who looks better in the much-coveted “Whitney” glasses: Angelina or Gwen?

Get the look: Tom Ford’s “Whitney” sunglasses, $300, neimanmarcus.com

Would You Wear White Shoes With Black Tights?

Katharine McPhee isn’t the only one working this graphic look — we keep seeing white shoes paired with opaque black tights on a lot of red carpets. Is it the mod influence that’s sweeping through fashion, or is it a flagrant flaunting of the old rules about wearing white shoes after Labor Day? We’re all about getting the maximum wear out of everything in our closets, but we have to admit that we’re not loving this look. Tell us: Do you like black tights with white shoes? Is this a look you would wear?

See more debatable fashion trends in our Would You Wear It? gallery poll.

Nature’s Gate: Why Brooke Shields and I Love It For Our Babies

As the concerned mom of a toddler, I insist on feeding my little one organically produced food. Who wants to put pesticides anywhere near their kids? So imagine my relief when I stumbled across a line of great organic baby care products from Nature’s Gate. Everything in the line –including Soothing Diaper Rash Cream, Organic Baby Oil, Gentle Baby Wash, and Naturally Soft Baby Lotion — is made from certified organic botanicals and has no harsh chemicals or fragrance (although it still smells really yummy). And my little one isn’t the only one getting slathered in Nature’s Gate — they have soothed the bottoms and limbs of Gwen Stefani’s baby Kingston and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s newborn Ramona. But Brooke Shields uses the line on her girls Rowan and Grier for The Cuddle Factor. She says, “I didn’t think my babies could get any softer.” Softness and safety, what more could you ask for? – Alison Singh Gee

What To Wear To That Holiday Party: A Tuxedo Like Katie Holmes!

Katie Holmes isn’t the only super-stylish star that we’ve noticed in a tuxedo lately — from Kirsten Dunst to Penelope Cruz, celebs have realized that this simple pantsuit is the perfect solution to what to wear to a party. We think it’s a great answer for what to wear to your office’s holiday party, too. What is easier to transition from a day at the office to a night on the town than a well-cut black pantsuit? Slip a glitzy top under a blazer to liven it up, or pair a classic tuxedo shirt with trousers for a traditional look. And of course, a little bit of bling and some sexy heels makes everything more festive. Here are a few of our favorites.

A great tuxedo-style jacket can last a lifetime. Try this one from INC with a sweet satin bow, $126, or this all satin version from Bebe, $198.

Who couldn’t use another pair of black pants? We love these wide-leg satin pants from Marc by Marc Jacobs, $278, or go traditional with Marciano tuxedo pants, $138.

For a subtly sexy blouse option, try this sheer Tuxedo top from Rebecca and Drew, $255, or go for all-out sparkle in this silver Jill Stuart cinched top. Or keep it simple with this Behnaz Sarafpour for Target silk tank.

Add the icing on the cake with glittering jewels that don’t break the bank. Try these stacked “diamond” rings from Fauxsie $35 each, or get bold with this all-black stunner from All the Rage, $12. Tie on this jewel-bedecked necklace from Banana Republic, $42, throw on these satin pumps for Abaete for Payless, $25, and you’re ready to party!
