12/08/2006 at 10:30 AM ET

Want to make your dog stand out in a crowd? For those of us who take our pups to dog runs, it’s not just a style statement, it’s the best way to track them in the pack! These bright, colorful Sailors Knot collars, $38 (and matching leashes, $42) from Mascot fit the bill — and could the bone-shaped buckle be cuter? And if you aren’t just gifting your own pooch, consider adding in one of their Varsity sweaters, $60, for a complete and coordinated gift for the dog-lover in your life.

My dog and my incrediblly adorable grand-dog are at the top of my list this year! I plan to immediately check these out as I still haven’t found the ideal doggie gift (though, believe me, I’ve tried)!

Very cute, but my dog is really small, so I’m not sure the collars would fit him…

I love when this site posts about doggie gifts! These are especially cute, and also look sturdy enough that they’ll last a long time (and won’t break at an inconvenient moment!).

looks too uncomfortable.

Mascot stuff is amazing! I have this exact collar for my dog which is a Lab and he loves it! They have leads that match as well. They have other kinds of collars that are good for small dogs. Check out their website!

hmmm… I just can’t picture these on my big Rottweiller named Harley… he’s so cute!!! I mean big and tough, yeah, that is what I meant.

I feel so trendy knowing that my favorite doggie brand is featured in People. My dogs and I fell in love with Mascot earlier this year when we discovered them in a cute show in Nantucket.

For those of you above who are skeptical, don’t be. I have a German Shepherd and a toy poodle and they are both very comfortable in their Mascot collars and leads. I get compliments in the dog park all the time.

And Kristin, for your Rottweiler, you should check out their leather products – much more appropriate for the big guys!!

Finally!! I have been a fan of Mascot for some time. They make the BEST gifts for doggie lovers.

Wow – last time I saw Mascot I was on Nantucket for a wedding. I bought 2 collars for my golden retrievers and I always get stopped in the dog park. Interestingly, I gave collar to a friend of mine who has a Min Pin and Dromio looks adorable. Unlike other trendy dog stuff – this really seeems to work on all sizes. Is Mascot in stores in NYC?

I have checked out the site and they really have some great stuff. The prices are a little higher, but the quality looks great. Which is good, because I am tired of buying collars and leads that fall apart after one winter.

Where can I find Mascot products in NYC? My friend gave me a great dog tag which people have commented on – can’t wait til i can get more great stuff for my shih-tzu. Love the varsity sweater.

I first found Mascot products at a store in Napa, California. The quality of their stuff is amazing. Their leather collars and leads are actually nicer than my own belt collection. :) For those of you can’t find a store with Mascot, you should checked out the website http://www.mymascot.com. I saw that you can purchase products on-line.

How adorable these collars are. I could picure my Papillon, Chloe Bela in one. she certainly would flaunt around being ms thing, she is such a show off, but I’d certainly put one on her.

Mascot’s products are great! We have a big Lab who’s passion is diving and swimming in our pool every day. He has a Mascot water-proof collar and it’s the only one that has ever held up to this type of torture! And, it looks awesome on him. They have really cute ID tags, too.

I have a lot of friends who have bought Mascot collars and/or leads. For Christmas gifts, I’m buying them ID tags to match. Love their sweaters, wish I had one that soft!

I love this collection! I have the pink sailors knot lead for my Yorkie and have gotten so many compliments at the dog park. Thank you Mascot!

I love these collars, leashes and enamel tags. I sell them in my dog store The Pearl Retriever in Portland, OR. My golden Ellie has “road tested” them swimming in lakes and on hiking trails.
She looks gorgeous and they stand up to wear and tear. They are well made, look great, are practical, and very fashionable too.

I like the rope-color idea. it’s very cute. I just don’t like the bone (it looks like a belt buckle). It would be very cute if there was a doggy tag in the shape of a bone hanging off it instead.

Amy on

My Daisy looks amazing in the pink one and people stop us all the time to compliment it. We love how fast it dries after she has her beach and ocean run.

those collars look great but too chunky. Check out http://www.hamishmcbeth.com they’ve got some great designs in real leather collars
