Joanie’s Take: The Inside Scoop on America’s Next Top Model

Model and America’s Next Top Model alum (cycle 6) Joanie Dodds gives her take on the season finale and its winner. (Psssst: It’s Caridee.)

This season has been great. Not as fabulous as my season last year, ha ha… but very exciting. Just thinking back through everything they have done – Spain, imitation sky diving, fabulous challenges, circus shoots, scary faces, crazy bitches, divas, Dennis Quaid and Fabio! Ew… Fabio. The top three have been decided! CariDee, Melrose and Eugena. These girls are wonderful, with great photos and fabulous attitudes, good or not.

The final three go on to shoot the ever-famous CoverGirl commercial and photoshoot for their Outlast Double Lip Shine. The girls all do relatively well. Caridee let that attitude shine! Melrose is such a perfectionist, and never lets it show that she is not a natural. After deliberating on both the commercials and shoots, Eugena was sent home for her uncertainty in the competition.

Has Kevin Federline Switched His Style?

Kevin Federline has cultivated a very definite, um, style — those cropped pants, the tank tops, that sideways baseball cap, the never-laced sneakers, the chains — but all those accoutrements appear to have vanished while on tour. Yes, it seems that Federline has gotten an image overhaul, starting with his shaved head (au revoir, cornrows!) and a series of funky, printed blazers. In fact, if you missed the change, his publicist sent out a press release recently trumpeting Federline’s transition from street to chic, including his new “fabulous well-stated sport jacket with an open collar shirt” and the retirement of the “signature gold chains that he wore around his neck.” Ah, Papa Federline, we salute you and your maturing fashion sense. Tell us: What do you think about Kevin’s new look? Is it an improvement?

Secrets From the Set: Deja Vu’s Screen Gems

Auditioning actors for a film is one thing, but auditioning jewelry? That’s what director Tony Scott and costumer Ellen Mirojnick did to find the Karen Karch ruby studs, worn by co-star Paula Patton, that figure prominently in the plot for Denzel Washington’s newest movie, Deja Vu. “We brought the earrings in as one of the choices, and it was perfect,” says Mirojnick. “It’s an everyday earring that had a bit of personality and panache.” If you’re sold on them without the screen-test, you can buy them for $2095 at karenkarch.com.

Are Skinny Jeans Over Already?

Well, that was quick! Apparently our readers aren’t the only ones ready to retire the skinny jeans trend. Former drainpipe devotees Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton have come out in flared jeans in the past few weeks, and Rachel Bilson, who we thought looked adorable in her skinny jeans, has also moved onto wider straight leg jeans. We’re not chucking our skinny jeans yet — they are still the easiest cut to tuck into boots — but it looks like this trend is winding down. Do we hear a collective sigh of relief? Let us know.
