Lindsay Turns Anti-Fur: What’s Your Take on The Fur Debate?

No stranger to wearing fur, Lindsay Lohan was about to be named to PETA’s upcoming worst-dressed list. But a PETA spokesperon tells us that the actress seems to have had a change of heart after seeing the organization’s anti-fur window displays at Topshop in London. During her whirlwind week there — which included the Casino Royale after party and hosting the World Music Awards — she was seen wearing a white fake fur jacket and an anti-fur button on her hat. While PETA tells us that Paris Hilton and other celebs have sworn off fur, Jennifer Lopez and other stars have recently been spotted in fur-trimmed jackets. Tell us: Where do you stand on the fur debate? Would you wear it?

fur kicks ass

Fur is amazing.. its soft, sexy and warm! if we didn’t kill the animals we do for fur, food, leather, etc… our world would be overrun by animals and they would kill us allll!!!!!! Oh ya and PETA named Paris the worst dressed of 2005 for wearing the most fur coats of any celebrity! so what is she.. a born again non-fur wearer?!..
& all you hypocritical peta losers… keep on euthanizing millions of animals and eat a big fat juicy steak while you’re at it!

To Mary, and anyone else that would wear fur:
God did give them clothes, because they had none. Till about one hundred years ago, we needed fur to stay warm. Now a days, we have sinthetic fabrics. Its superficial to kill animals soley for their fur. Its abusing our gift as human beings. The animals need their fur more than we do, and I bet God would agree. Get a clue.

Sunny

Animal rights folks would rather save an animal than save a human. Did you know that there were animal rights group’s who goal it was to save the displaced animals during Hurrican Katrina and not the people! I love fur, I eat meat I’m stuff my turker as we speak!

Mary’s comment is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. Even if Adam and Eve actually existed their use of fur was justified because they had nothing else to protect them from the environment. In the modern and CIVILIZED world, we have plenty of fashionable alternatives that DON’T require the barbaric slaying of animals.

Jasmine

I wear fake fur on my coats, but i definitley dont ever wear real fur. I dont support killing animals just to wear them.

Ryan

P.S. I should also add that I do not eat meat, do not wear leather, and also do not but products tested on animals. So anyone who thinks I’m being a hypocrite is not correct.

JenB

I don’t have any furs and don’t really care for them, but I’m not opposed to the industry as a whole. I think most things are okay in moderation. I would only have a problem with furs if the fur were the ONLY thing used after the animal was killed. As far as leather and meat go, I’m all for it. And to the person that suggested using “natural” things instead of fur…what is more natural than fur???

Candy

I don’t wear fur, I think it’s utterly ridiculous to spend $5k+ on a coat or a wrap pretty much made from 150-200 animals that range from the size of a hamster to a guinea pig. Chinchillas and minks are members of the rodent family, so you’re basically spending all this money to wear dead rats on your body!! Tell me fur lovers, do you have dogs or cats?? Did you know that in some countries they actually steal & kill dogs & cats for their fur and import it as fox or rabbit fur. Keep that in mind next time you’re feeding fluffy or fido.

Carol Mariane

Fur comes from wildlife and represents an unnecessary fashion accessory and symbolizes social and economical status, while cows, pigs and chicken are domesticated animals.
The former are trapped, electrocuted and gassed, especially mink so as not to damage their coats. The latter are slaughtered, hopefully in a humane manner. People can choose not to eat meat of any type and become vegetarians.

And to Renee, humankind (mankind) is animals biggest and most dangerous predator. Adam and Eve…they’re a delusional fantasy created by religion which, by the way is both patriarchal and androcentric to boot.

One doesn’t have to go back to evolution and the dinosaur era to realize that many animals have become -or are in danger of – extinction because humans (man) don’t understand that animals are….sentient beings. Those who hunt, just have to have that trophy. It represents power over a helpless animal. If humans (man) supposedly have “domiminion over” animals, then perhaps all animals are a target for exploitation. Cat and dogs are being used for fur and the outrageous reality is, that it’s not illegal.

I hope people who feel as Renee and Mary do, don’t have domestic companion animals because to wear animal skins and to ‘own’ a cat or dog, is indeed, an oxymoron. Would one wear their own cat or dog? I. Don’t. Think. So.

Wearing fur is selfish. Eating meat is selfish. Consuming any animal byproduct is selfish. … and we think we’re the smartest d*mn species on earth. What other species would kill another for a COAT?? PURSE?? That’s beyond stupidity.. it’s cruel.. and makes no sense when their are alternatives.

and no.. I have no affiliation with PETA or any activism group for that matter.. my conscious decision is enough to suffice.. i’m not into ego-feeding tactics… but seriously people, THINK. karma for all.
