It's a Girl for Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes!

Even Cate Blanchett Has a Miss Now And Then

11/09/2006 at 03:00 PM ET

We always think of Cate Blanchett as being an incredibly stylish woman; one of the rare stars who can push the edges of fashion and still look classic. But seems like even Cate has bad days. Attending a screening of her new film Babel (which already has major Oscar buzz) in her native Australia, Cate combined a cropped pantsuit with a red sweater and boots for a look that falls short of her usual impeccable standards. (We much prefer her in this fabulous silver Ralph Lauren gown). Sorry, Cate. We’re not digging the pantsuit.

Cate is dressed for a Halloween custome party; it is the only logical explanation for such horrible outfit.

At least the boots are cute…

Brandy on

Apart from the creepy boots, a cute and kitschy choice.

Iskrenie on

Who cares how Cate dresses. She’s classic Hollywood. She’s a woman of natural beauty and talent.

Haley on

YIKES!! Could have been a good thing, but definitely too much going on there.

Boots are cool but not with the hideous outfit.

Chris Kragh on

Not something I would choose for her but really….Cate could wear a burlap sack and still sleek sleek, elegant and beutiful.

I think it very fashion forward. It is an old style mixed with a new breath. I think it looks cute.

She looks good to me. It’s an unusual ensemble but she pulls it off with panache. Very reminiscent of Katharine Hepburn. At least she doesn’t look like all the clone-like starlets out there who wear the exact same thing.

Could have been better. I agree, Kate usually looks fabulous, but this…needs a little more work. I do adore the boots though, but maybe with something else.

Oops, meant *Cate* :)

Would look better if pants weren’t tucked into the boot, the red boots match her shirt.

I love it!:) is fun, classy and looks very comfortable! I’m sure that Cate couldn’t care less of whatever opinion we have about her fashion taste! Ehehehe

Fran on

I actually think it looks cute on her. Cate can look good in anything. And please- isn’t this better than most of the outfits Mischa, Lindsey and Paris wear?

AnnieM on

I agree with Fran – it’s fine except the boots. Cate has it all over Lindsey and company any day of the week (probably because she actually has talent).

Paparrazis take pics at bad times. Her fashion choice wasnt so great. But who cares about what celebs are wearing(Actually I do, but thats okay)

i totally agree with kristin!

the boots r so cute!

I like the pant suit, nothing wrong with it, I just think she paired some things with that pant suit that wasn’t too good of a fashion choice. I think Cate could rock that pant suit, if she would get rid of the tie (is that a tie around her neck?) and the red boots. Just in my personal opinion, I would like to see her with another type of shoe. Although, I DO love the boots. Red shows hip and self assurance in someone, because red is so out there and vibrant. Cate is beautiful and she can act, which is what counts. She reminds me of Rachel Weisz and Kate Winslett (sp?). Classic beauties.

a total miss!
