Argyle: It’s Hip to Be Square

While others in Hollywood may be wild for animal print or retro ’80s fashions, we caught Madonna patterning herself in…Great Scot, preppy argyle! The singer, in New York on a media tour, made an arresting figure jogging in a V-neck argyle sweater that matched her green sweats. But she isn’t the only star loving argyle: new mom Britney Spears cut a slender — and stylish — figure in a black-and-white diamond-patterned vest in her first outing after the birth of second son Jayden James. Even country star Tim McGraw recently ditched his cowboy threads for a bright orange argyle vest while hanging out in New York City. Tell us: What do you think of the argyle look? Is it cool to be preppy or should this look be put on ice?Julia Wang

Amber

I think it looks great, and comfy so ya I’d wear it.

AnnieM

Love argyle!

Susan

I love argyle! Although it does remind me of my carefree days in junior high in the 80’s, I still live the print. One of my favorite outfits has an argyle sweater vest – I got it last year. The pink, purple, and white is just so pretty together. Keep the argyle coming!

donna

well these sweaters are very preppy, I wore them in the 80’s……i like them but why bring back the preppy 80’s?

Andrea Semaganis

Gotta love it, and it has never gone out of style. I have seen many Saskatchewananians wear Argyle in the past years, Madonna and Britney just bring nationwide attention to it.

Kristin

I don’t think Argyle ever really went away- a classic look. But interesting choice of clothiung to go running in. I did Brit’s sweater vest, though, tre cute!

j

i LOVE argyle, though while wearing a bra and not to exercise in!!!

Liz

Well, i guess argyle’s okay, but i would just keep to socks, preferably coverered by pants! i think a trend for your eyes only

Andrea

Thank God argyle is getting big. It’s so classy.

RT

Madonna looks silly wearing that vest with jogging pants!

Vicki

Britney looks great. Madonna looks terrible.

Haley

Most styles of it are UGLY. Brit’s is better than Madonna’s, IMO.

lisa

thank goodness it is still popular! I own around 7 sweaters and 5 pair of socks!! Although I don’t wear them together!!

Sumita Patel

I think they both look great and the clothes look really comfy!!!!!

funfun100

I think these sweaters are perfect! They are totally classy and fit with a lot of things like jeans, skirts, sweat pants and whatever! They are totally cute and totally comfy!

milly

I like the way Birtney wore it…Madonna looks silly
Argyle is classic..i’d wear it..Actually i have

Kay

Nope hate it! Maybe if i had a pocket protecter I would pull it off. Too dorky looking…

sharon

Ugh! Hated it in high school, hate it now.

Amy

Not cute then, not cute now. And please somebody give Britney a bra!

sarah

yuck…. yuck…

Siggy

I thinks she looks as un-stylish as she always does. Hate the hair and hate the makeup, and the dresses she is wearing may be nicer than the onces she has worn before, but that does nok make them great. Still no style-Britney

Christina

I love it. It makes her look smart and sophisticated. She looks a thousand times better than she has lately! Keep up the good work Britney

Jen Stone

Britney looks really cute, but why is Madonna jogging in any kind of sweater for that matter?

amy

I think britney looks better with the darker hair colouring. her being blonde doesn’t really go with the new look she is trying to pull off.

Erika

britney looks great…. Its amazing how she can look this good after looking so trashy before… You go girl.. Lovin the short hair looks great but long looks much better.

Amy

Where can I find this vest?

rachel b.

they must be twins because of the way they dress, act in public with the cameras and are mother’s.

Rachel

I like it, but it should be worn at a school.

Rachel

It’s high-school chic!
