Get The Look: Little Black Dresses

It’s the classic linchpin of a woman’s wardrobe — casual or fancy, the little black dress is perfect for every occasion. But finding the right one that marries fashion and functionality, trend and timelessness can be trickier than it seems. And of course, putting your own fashion fingerprint on it is essential. We love that Rachel Bilson (left) paired a tough leather jacket with her sweet and swingy Dolce & Gabbana for a fresh and unique take. Inspired by this and other trends in our Little Black Dress Gallery, we picked a few of our favorites for sale online. Click through to shop all the hottest little black dresses.
THE COVER-UP (as seen on Rachel Bilson, left)
We may not be able to afford her exact dress, but you can get Rachel’s look with this $50 frock from J.C. Penney and cropped leather jacket, like this faux-leather blazer from Target, $30.

Courtney Love Gets Buttoned-Up

Post-rehab (with some surprising help from Mel Gibson), Courtney Love seems to be trying out a new look in keeping with her sober lifestyle. Gone are the torn baby-doll dresses from her Grunge days (even though that era seems to be back) and va-va-voom style. In their place she’s sporting tweeds, knee length skirts, even glasses — more befitting a mom and a published author (Love even had a proper book signing in NYC yesterday, left). She may still have a few fashion kinks to work out, but we think she’s heading in the right direction. Tell us: What do you think of Courtney’s new buttoned-up style? Do you like her new look?

Would You Buy a Wedding Dress At H&M?

In this week’s issue of PEOPLE magazine, we get an inside peak into the world of Viktor and Rolf, Dutch designers who have done everything from send ballroom dancers down the runway to selling perfume bottles shaped like grenades. And their next challenge is designing for the masses as they launch a limited edition line at H&M (that sadly won’t be sold online). Forget their signature white shirts and tuxedo pants– we are most intrigued that they designed bow-adorned wedding dresses to be sold for only $349! To celebrate the occasion, they threw an elaborate “wedding” bash in L.A., complete with a 15 foot wedding cake and guests such as Kanye West and Carmen Electra. Even fashionistas like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen stepped up to give their congratulations to the designers and their “bride” (left). It was a big hit with the stars, but tell us: Would you buy a wedding dress at H&M?

Stars Like Bargains, Too!

We love a bargain and obviously look forward to everything new at Target. And now we know that we have that in common with Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell (left). She attended a hotel opening in San Diego on Monday wearing a brand-new Behnaz Sarafpour for Target strapless dress that is only $45! She’s not the only celeb shopping “off the rack!” We always covet Ashlee Simpson’s style, but this time, we can afford it! After her last performance in Chicago she was spotted wearing an adorable Free People cord dress. It is $109 and looks cute with tights, leggings, or even over jeans (although maybe forgoing pants is the real moneysaver!). Bargain shopping is a trend we can always feel good about!
