Mary-Kate & Lindsay Rock Out In Eighties Tees

Even though they were both born in 1986, Lindsay Lohan and Mary-Kate Olsen are paying homage to some of the decade’s biggest musical acts. Lohan (left) headed out for a day of shopping in Los Angeles recently wearing a Motley Crue t-shirt (the band released “Dr. Feelgood” in 1989). Olsen went for the complete 80’s look by pairing her iconic “Frankie says Relax” t-shirt (Frankie Goes to Hollywood released “Relax” in 1983) with skinny jeans with zippers at the ankles. They aren’t the only young fans of 80’s pop t-shirts — Jessica Simpson (born in 1980) was recently spotted in a t-shirt emblazoned with “The Police.” As long as no one starts wearing Flock of Seagulls haircuts, we think this trend is totally rad. Do you agree? Will you be rocking out in eighties tees, too?

Love some of the clothes from the 80’s and especially the t-shirts and these ladies are adding a bit of class to it.

sara

meh…not really a look i would go for, just because i’m not into that kind of music…i think if you like the bands from that decade, for sure, go for sporting them on your t-shirts…(because you support their music or what-not)…i don’t think these t-shirts should be worn by people who have no clue who the bands are and just wanna follow the trends they see…this kinda goes hand in hand with the t-shirts that say “hawaii” or like “california” on them…by all means if you’ve been to those places or like those places, wear them…but i don’t get it when my sister walks into a “garage clothing” and comes out with shirts advertising places she hasn’t ever been to…so to sum it us, by all means wear shirts advertising bands from the 80s as long as you know what those bands are about…

Andrea

I agree with you on this. Do you really think Lindsay Lohan listens to Motley Crue anyway? Who knows. Personally I don’t really like this look, but that’s just me. People seem like they’re trying too hard and they seem like they’re trying to go out of their way to prove to people that they’re tough, or a rebel. It’s just too forced to me. That’s my opinion.

JenB

I can handle the t-shirts even though I’m not so crazy about 80’s music, but the zip-ankle skinny jeans have to go. Actually, I could do without ALL skinny jeans. They’re awful.

Adrienne

Never mind the skinny jeans (although I’m not a fan) – It’s the heels with a t-shirt and hoodie that’s making me shudder!

Christine

Why do the 80’s have to come back? They were bad enough the first time around…

jill

i think mk looks awesome. she is always pushing limits in fashion which ends up pushing fashion forward. she is not afraid and confident in her choices. GO MK!

Rebecca

I love that they’re paying homage to some of the old 80’s bands- such fun music. Some of the band t-shirts- like Lindsay’s Motley Crue shirt- look kind of dirty or cheap to me… is that airbrushed? I agree completely with JenB- please no more skinny jeans! Blech!

mitzu

This is the dumbest ‘trend’ yet. There is no one original in Hollywood – no not one. All these gurrrrrrls borrow from each other. I seriously wish they’d ,like seeeriously, get a life. Like, gag me with a pitch fork and call me done that been there!

Erica

I could understand if they were genuine fans, but they are not. Lindsay Lohan releases crappy dance music. Do they even listen to any form of rock? No.

Jessica

i like the 80’s shirts if you know how to style them and i think even if you don’t listen to there music that doesn’t mean you can’t wear them. But i think it looks better on Lindsey lohan than mary-kate. personally i think there both ugly! does anyone agree?

Joy

Holy God – you mean when I was a dorky seventh grader in my Motley Crue t and zip-ankle jeans I was actually cool? Could’ve fooled me!

If anyone wants some of those 80’s rock t’s to emulate the look, I’ve got loads of them in my parent’s basement. I may drag out a few of the more interesting visually ones just for nostalgia (can anyone say Moscow Music Peace Festival) but I don’t know if I could wear them with the same intensity I did back then.

Kate

Lindsay’s not getting fat, she’s getting healthy. Girls that are too skinny are disgusting, along with skinny jeans. I don’t like this look at all.

Holly

I think vintage t-shirts are very cool. Although I think Lindsay Lohan and Mary-Kate Olsen are very messy dressers, I do like the t-shirts.

Andrea

I thought I was the only one who thought skinny jeans look like crap. Thank God there are others. Pleeeeease.. no more skinny jeans and no more trashy band shirts. They have money! Buy something classy for crying out loud…

SWEET LILY

i have some junkfood eighties inspired tee’s that t totally cute and glam!

diggin the rocker look ladies!

EmO giRl

I LOVE ROCK TEES!!!!I LOVE SHIRTS THAT HAVE THE RAMONES AND MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!!!I LOVE THE LONG SLEEVE ONES BECUZ IT COVERS MY CUTS ON MY WRIST…..ANYWAYS…ONLY PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO WEAR THEM SHOULD WEAR THEM.HILARY DUFF IS A POSER!SHE IS A WANNABE ROCKER AND THE SHIRTS DONT LOOJ RIGHT ON HER….BYE PEOPLZ!!….

micheleeee.

I believe that Mary-Kate is the Queen of orginality.
But Lindsay,
well…
She simply copies other girls’ styles and puts them all together in an ulgy asemble of leggings and ankle boots

Get your own style Lindsay!

fairytale

WHAT! How can anyone call lindsay lohan fat?? Yet again I have to say that here in Europe it`s all “been there, done that”-style. We are moving to the 1990s now. Grunge is back! Think Nirvana! Band t-shirts have been big here for 5 years and I love them still, wear them almost everyday. My favourite is a white Mew-shirt…. Mary-Kate is a style icon and Lindsay is just beautiful!

Camilla

I brought a t-shirt like MK’s in Denmark three years ago. Seriously. The 80s were back, but they left again.

Jessica

Have I ever mentioned how UGLY skinny jeans are?! These are the things you would get teased for wearing at school and suddenly they’re in fashion? YUCK! I can’t say it enough!!

Sandy

The 80’s fashions suck!!! I HATE the skinny jeans, they do not look good on anyone unless they are 90 pounds. 80’s music was horrible, why would you want to advertise crappy music on your chest?? Not a fan of this look at all.

Cassie

The 80’s are coming back full swing. I’m loving the rocker tee’s, especially with those skinny jeans!

Let’s just hope the shoulder pads *stay* in the 80’s. :P

AnnieM

Nice Hermes belt with you Crue shirt Lindsay, but you still have no class.

Courtney

Thank you Christine…The 80’s need not come back and these outfits are so haggard looking. What happened to nice fitted jeans, a cute cropped blazer, and high heeled boot? Hopefully, masses of people will not try to clone them!

Anay

I think they look ridiculous! They have all that money and they buy crapy clothes! It’s insane! Why don’t they just go to Goowill and save a couple of thousands?

Sonja

I think MK loks great. She is a pioneer of fashion. She has total originality and is confident with whatever she wears….thats what makes her a fashionista.

Stephanie

Grew up in the 80’s love the t-shirts, but I doubt Lindsay listens to motley Crue.
PS~BY THE WAY, I STILL HAVE MY SHIRT FROM THEN!

jenny

Been there, done that. And it didn’t look good the first time ’round either.

Dianne

MK looks nasty her hair is so unbrushed…..get some class MK your a mess

Shasha

Omg I just realized the shirt that MK is wearing was on Friends (do you remember the episode where Ross wore it)

sprout

I’d rock the 80’s t’s, but only b/c I dig the 80’s — I lived through them and love the music.

Why shouldn’t MK & Lindsay rock the skinny jeans? They’ve got skinny legs. I’d look like I had two hams for gams if I were in them (I’ve tried them on — they were like sausage casings — I laughed like an idiot). They shouldn’t have to look polished all the time — they’re just kids for heaven’s sake.

Now, if people start rockin’ the side pony with the leggings and the long t’s… that’s a matter of “it was bad in ‘85, and it’s bad now, too.”

And who do you think will sport the first PERM in Hollywood in the new millennium??? :-D

Sarah

I really like the old vintage tee’s, they are very fun to wear casual and you can even dress them up! However, the skinny jeans have got to go! They are probably the worst trend I have seen yet! NO matter who they are on, they are hideous. I have pretty skinny long legs, I am 5′10″, and I would never even image putting a pair of those things on! I think bell bottom jeans (flare jeans) will be here forever! and should be. They flatter bodies the best!

Lacey

I love 80’s music and the vintage tee’s but I can’t stand skiny jeans they’re so ugly, even though I know they are “in style”. I would never wear them.

jessie charles

I really love mary kate and lindsay lohan. They are two of the young girls who are not afraid to admit their mistakes and so what if they feel they need to wear the trendy clothe of the season, they worked hard to get where they are and have the money to spend it on clothes the “hopefully” will be gone by next season, because I am 5′3 and in no way can wear skinny jeans but it looks good on them so war power to them for indulging in the newest fashion trends. Hopefully someday I will be daring enough not to care what people think and pull out my fav. wedge heels again. By the way I looooove lindsay lohan.

Lacey

I think if they want to wear it, than so be it. Just because someone else wears it doesnt mean they are copying them. It means they like it and want to wear it too. At least they try to mix it up a little. Wear what you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s- i like the jeans and shirts…it looks comfortable! :0)

Amber

I agree it is rad! I too am born in 86(June 24th), the 80s era was fun, music was good, movies were good; I sure would wear an 80s tees, it sounds fun.

Michelle

MK……How can someone with all that money always look poor and filthy??? LL…….?

beth

I am just happy to see Mary-Kate in some actual clothing, instead of robes and scarves! I think she looks great, and her shoes are hot. Granted, she and Lindsay Lohan only spent 3 1/2 years in the 80’s … but I like the look and think it’s fun and different to dress up in clothes from the 80’s.

Shari

I don’t get why the 80s are suddenly coming back…shudder…weren’t we just making fun of all those fashion choices a couple weeks ago? I have to agree with JenB on the jeans! Nasty!

em

I love the 80’s tees. I have a Blondie tee shirt that I love. I also think the 80’s gave us amazing music even though i missed out on the 80’s by 11 months!

Tricia

I love 80’s music and style. And I love MK’s shirt…I wasnt alive when the 80’s were in the first time around so I’m milking this trend for all it’s worth!!80’s music is much better than the frickin crap thats out now.I may be 14,but I prefer the old stuff.ROCK ON WITH YOUR 80′S SELF!!

christine jerla

Ahhhh….now I know how my parent felt when we wore sixties garb! Scary stuff!

Jamie

Lindsay looks so cute in that outfit!!! it is like cross from preppy look (not my favorite look) and punk….

victoria

Mary Kate bought thw frankie top from tohshop…i was going to buy one of those

http://www.topshop.com

LeeAnn

i like the look on mary-kate but not lindsey lindsey looks grungy and like she didnt care what she put on today

Natalee

They are called Vintage t-shirts. There was NOTHING wrong with the 80’s. Sure, maybe there were some fashions that we dare not bring back, but there was nothing wrong with that era. Some of you are probably little snotty brats who were born in 1989 and you’re 17 yrs. old and listen to 50 cent and call that ‘good music’ and think you know it all. Motley Crue was the chit back in the day. I own a Journey vintage t-shirt, Bon Jovi, U2 and a Van Halen vintage t-shirt. Personally, any music made after the 80’s are just a bunch of junk music. Anything coming out of the 90’s and into today’s music is all crap. Besides those still strong today, like Bon Jovi, U2, Aerosmith and such are the only good music around today. Music from the 80’s, 70’s, 60’s, 50’s and even back to the Billie Holiday days, are the best music.

Lau

lol god celebertys r so stupid:)
get a life:D

alexis

Yess,, if i ever see them in my boring old town i def. will.

Daniela

only a nice style

Rio

Does this girl even know who Motley Crue is? What a TARD.

Jasmine

I love the 80’s t-shirts.
The 5 inch heels Mary Kate is wearing, I don’t agree with.
I honestly don’t know why we keep picking on her for what she wears. At least she is wearing something unlike all those celebs who think it’s alright to show the world their crotches.

lola_forever

MK looks fab! her top is great. ill be getting me one of them. as for lindsay, she doesnt look so great. she just copies everyone else, but cannot get away with it. at all.

lola_forever

i love mary kates style. and anyone who doesnt like skinny jeans, then live with it. skinny jeans will be around for quite a while, and anyone who doesnt look good in them…its your own fault. they can look great on people, skinnys are the only jeans i own. well, i do have 2 other normal pairs, but i never wear them. im confident in knowing they’ll be around for some time, so ill carry on buying them. topshop tried to get rid of them, and it didnt work. topshop is the highstreet fashion store that sets the styles and they just had to get them back. theres no way people will be getting rid of them any time soon. the tee that MK is wearing is great! i can’t find the same kind of style anywhere, the writing isnt big enough on some of the tees, and the neckline is too high. but the one MK has on, i really want that. her heels are cute too! but, me being 15, dont think id get away with walking down the street in them.

Austin

Finaly, the 80s are coming back. I’m the only one in my high school who is not obsessed with either punk, rap, or preppy stuff. I wear tight jeans, converse, tight hair metal tees, and spray my hear with aquanet!!!

suneshine

Do you know Ashley Olsen’s email adress?

austin

Mk looks very chic as always and does this look well from head to toe. Skinny jeans are here to stay and I personally love them. Don’t criticise something because you don’t have the body for it.

Annie R

Oh my gosh, these comments are just awful. I cannot believe how mean some people can be.

I think both outfits are very cute. Rock on, girls.

t wolf

it’s obvious to me that the motley crue t shirt
on lindsay Lohan is photo shopped, lindsay is not
a Motley Crue girl, she believes in women’s rights
not extravagant white trash girl beater debauchery
this is obviously a photo shop job

JLR

MK looks like shes a homeless person, no offense to anyone. Lindsey looks classy with her 80’s getup.

Jade

They both looks lovely.

Nikki Sparks

“Will you be rocking out in eighties tees, too?” i already do. i have a nikki sixx haircut and i actually listen to motley crue, guns n roses etc :)

Melanie

It is pretty amazing that these cool rock t-shirts are still pretty popular. I saw several cool ones over at Buyrocktshirts.com from bands like Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and others. Great place for vintage rock t-shirts similar to the ones that Lindsay is wearing
