Meet The Designer: Zac Posen

“It’s all about glamour!” It’s no suprise to anyone who has seen the 25 year-old wunderkind Zac Posen’s creations on stars such as Rachel Bilson, Rihanna (left, with Posen), and Felicity Huffman, that he is all about classic Hollywood screen sirens and celebrating a woman’s body. Speaking at the New Yorker Festival this weekend, he stressed the importance of any body type being able to wear his clothes — even having used a size 16 model in his shows before. But it’s not just about clothes for him — Mischa Barton and Beyonce are already rocking his new line of purses and shoes. And as for those red-carpet customers? Joking that any woman who wears his dresses is “a celebrity in her town or her group of friends,” he believes “stars are really who we look to as fashion leaders–they are the gods of our culture.” At the very least, they certainly look like modern-day goddesses in his creations. – Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

Jessica Simpson: Long or Short?

It’s only been 6 weeks since Jessica Simpson cut her long blonde locks off into a sleek new bob, but she headed out to dinner last night with her long hair back in place. Ah, the miracle of extensions. Jessica loves to play with her look, so who knows how look this length will stick around. But we think Jessica looks great either way. Tell us what you think: Do you like Jessica’s hair better long or short?

Which Denim Looks Are Over?

Jeans are a classic, all-American staple, so they should be pretty tough to screw up, right? Wrong, as we discovered in our Denim Looks to Lose Gallery. From Tara Reid’s too-low two-tones (left) to Kelly Clarkson’s mysterious zippers (hidden thigh pockets?), there are plenty of denim looks to lose. Fall’s hottest jeans are darker, slimmer, and sleeker than ever before. Tell us: What denim looks do you think are totally over? What are you sick of seeing?

Click here to see our Denim Looks to Lose Gallery or to see more Off The Rack posts on denim, click here. For the ultimate jean guide, check out PEOPLE’s new StyleWatch issue, on sale at newsstands now.

How To Make Your Dog The Best Dressed Pooch!

As Olympia Dukakis famously said in Steel Magnolias, “The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize.” But that doesn’t mean that we can’t help them out (as Paris is demonstrating, left)! After much ooh-ing and ah-ing over cute the puppies pictured in our Stars and Their Dogs! gallery, we came up with some of our favorite items for the totally pampered pooch (like Paris Hilton’s, left).

Halloween is approaching, so why not dress your dog up too? Go the barnyard route with a Pig, $35 or Cow costume, $35. Or go traditional with a Pumpkin outfit, $25.

Annette & Warren: Hotter Than Ever!

We see them so rarely these days that sometimes we forget how much we love Annette Bening and Warren Beatty. But when they take the red carpet, as they did last night to promote Bening’s new film Running with Scissors (opening Oct. 20 with much Oscar buzz attached), they own it like the Hollywood royalty that they are. With Beatty’s scandalous playboy days firmly in the past, this pair are always classy, politicially passionate, and of course, gorgeous. They imbue the idea of dressing their age with style and elegance — looking appropriate but never boring. (And check out Bening in that Lanvin outfit — she has the legs of a 20 year old!). We hope that she gets nominated for tons of awards this season, if only so we can keep seeing them on the red carpet!

Hollywood’s Favorite Shoemaker

Fittingly for an evening honoring legendary shoe maker Salvatore Ferragamo, host Eva Mendes (middle) went feet first when it came to picking out her outfit. “I let the shoes dictate everything — they’re replicas of the shoes that Ferragamo made for Marilyn Monroe and Sofia Loren. They’re my favorite shoes ever!” Her Ferragamo royal blue satin dress and dramatic updo enhanced her classic Hollywood look. If only presenting the Ferragamo family with the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award was as easy as picking her outfit! “I am a little bit nervous this evening because I respect this family so much,” she confessed on stage. Mendes wasn’t the only guest who went ultra-glam for the night: Ginnifer Goodwin (left) said of her beaded bubble skirt dress: “It was hard to get on, but once I did, it was worth it. It’s so comfortable!” Other gorgeous attendees in Ferragamo included Molly Sims (right), Kristin Davis, and Rose McGowan. But Goodwin summed up the spirit of the evening best, “We all worship Ferragamo. We’ve got a lot of old Hollywood tradition here!”
