A Star-Studded Night at The Opera

Usually, a night at the opera is more old-school than It-girl — unless the opera is Madame Butterfly staged by powerhouse movie director Anthony Minghella (Cold Mountain, The Talented Mr. Ripley). Last night, the Metropolitan Opera house in New York was filled with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, dressed in their red carpet best. Sienna Miller (right) left her tough London attire at home and came in an exquisite princess-style Marchesa gown and Cartier diamonds along with the ultimate accessory, on-again, off-again beau Jude Law. Other couples included Naomi Watts, in a beautiful floral Roberto Cavalli, and Liev Schreiber, and the always-stylish Iman and David Bowie. Liv Tyler and designer Zac Posen mugged for the cameras, while Meg Ryan (left) made a rare appearance, looking extra lovely in a Jil Sander gown with flowing train. With all these stars in the audience, we bet the scene at intermission was nearly as exciting as the drama onstage (which did indeed get glowing reviews).

What’s Jessica’s Best Look: Natural or Glam?

What a difference a few hours can make! Jessica Simpson, in London to see little sis Ashlee’s debut in Chicago, rolled off the airplane at Heathrow bright-eyed and fresh-faced (left). And after a brief stop at her hotel, she emerged for a night on the town with a full face of makeup, including dark smoky eyes and glossed pink lips. We have to admit that when it comes to Jessica’s beautiful face, we think less is more. Do you agree? Tell us: Which look do you prefer on Jessica, natural or glam?

Kate’s Bubble Dress: Love It or Hate It?

If you’ve seen Kate Beckinsale fighting the undead in a second-skin latex bodysuit, you know that she has a body worth flaunting. Yet, at an event in Germany this past weekend, Kate passed on any number of body-hugging dresses and chose this voluminous satin frock instead. Always in step with the latest fashion, Kate is showing off one of fall’s biggest trends, the bubble dress. We’ve already seen volume, but the bubble is more contained at the hem, while still showing off toned arms and legs. And the soft rosettes at the neckline do direct attention to Kate’s lovely face and defined shoulders. Would you wear this dress? What do you think of the “bubble”?

For more trendspotting, check out our Would You Wear This gallery, and come back here to let us know what you really think!
