UPDATE: As some of you have pointed out, we too have heard this new look of Madonna’s may have been only temporary. Is it a wig? We think so! We’ll give an official update (with photo!) as soon as we can!

Madonna is the ultimate master of reinvention — blonde, brunette, cone bras, she’s done it all — but we’ve gotten used to the mostly-proper, beret-wearing, honey-blonde mom version of her that she’s been rocking for the past few years. But she’s just changed it up again, temporarily trading in her long, disco-inspired flip (left) to a platinum, sharp-edged bob with side-swept bangs (right). No, we don’t think she was inspired by either of the Simpson sisters’ recent cuts, but as always, she is on the cutting edge of upcoming trends with the color. While we love a man in a perfectly tailored suit, a blazer can come off as stuffy in certain situations. Lately, Tom Cruise has opted for unusually formal attire at his sporting events—most recently wearing a sport coat to his daughter Isabella’s soccer game in Beverly Hills and a suit and tie to the Washington Redskins football game he attended with Katie Holmes and son Connor. We applaud Tom for not showing up in body paint or a generic team t-shirt, but his buttoned-up, collared shirts reminds us of his uptight Jerry Maguire character pre-epiphany (and wardrobe change). Doesn’t he just want to relax and not worry about spilling beer or dropping mustard on an Armani shirt? Tell us: what do you think of his look? Scarlett Johansson (left) plays up her pinup girl good looks (and sexy curves) with platinum curls and deep red lips in her movie, The Black Dahlia, which just opened last weekend. And Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani rock the old-school combo of pale skin, platinum locks and crimson lips on a daily basis. Red lipstick is one of the big emerging beauty trends, and the platinum hair is a nice counterpoint to all the brunettes popping up lately. Tell us: Is this a look you would try?
