No More Skinny Jeans for Kate?

Kate Moss was the center of attention yesterday in London when she turned up to attend an event for Topshop (right), fueling speculation that she has agreed to design a line for the store (loved by everyone from Moss to Kate Middleton). As much as we would love to see a collaboration between Kate and our beloved Topshop, our attention is totally focused on her jeans — specifically, her faded bell-bottom jeans. Not only is Moss always one step ahead of every fashion trend (she was even named “The Trendsetter” as one of PEOPLE’s Best Dressed), but she was one of the first to rock the super-dark, super-skinny jeans (left, in April), making tight, black denim a signature of her style. Now that Kate is wearing light flares again, does this mean that skinny jeans are on their last legs? Which look do you prefer?

Skinny jeans are easier to pair with a top than bell bottoms. You can even wear t-shirts with it and still look cute. Really versatile. I happen to think they look more elegant and stylish on a woman than bell bottoms.

And look at Kate’s bell bottoms! They don’t fit well and just look terrible overall. I wouldn’t have bought a pair for myself. Plus the icky brown braided belt and the tucked in grey top. Just ewwww. The belt doesn’t even match the shoes. What was she thinking?

Sorry, but high-waisted bell-bottoms are just not for me. Neither are low-waisted ones. Never has been.

Not only do I not like the skinny jeans, I do not like the dark jeans unless I’m definitely looking to wear black jeans for a particular look. For all the time wear, I’m into the faded jeans or grey jeans.

ick… skinny jeans. Blah! Bring on the flare!!!

I’d prefer NOT to see Kate Moss, period. Sorry fashionistas, she’s not that attractive and her sense of “style” is grossly over-rated. I’d prefer to see a fashion icon who is not an emaciated cokehead with an ever present cigarette dangling from her spindly fingers.

Missy

Even when the skinny jean was in you can still wear the flare. The skinny jean only looks good on super slim people with loose tops

I’ve taken a good look at the pictures… Kate Moss does NOT look good in the skinny jeans. I dunno if it’s just the light, but those jeans… well, look at the knees! and the ankles!
truly weird.
at any rate, skinny jeans just aren’t sensible. Ugly and impossible to wear. Not that I’ve ever tried any on. But look at them!
I laugh in scorn.

faded flares all the way! too tight looks like a yeast infection waiting to happen! laid back sexy roughed up jeans, yahoo!

I think people are quick to jump on the bandwagon of saying that skinny jeans don’t look good and that flares do on EVERYBODY but ultimately it is what you pair with each that makes it what it is. I agree that skinny jeans don’t look good on everyone but that has more to do with personality than size. Some people also don’t look good in polka dots or pointy flats, maybe a roundtoe, kitten-heel fits their personal style better. The point that’s being missed is that one must put together an OUTFIT and one pair of pants, an outfit does not make. A billowing top or a short well-cut dress with flats look amazing with skinny jeans on almost any body type, giving skinny girls shape while also giving curvy girls cover-up—it’s one’s personality that ultimately makes it work.

I AM HAPPY TO C THAT SHE IS PLAYING WITH HER LOOK!

I THINK SHE LOOKS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!:)

Both gmv. I think those who are able to make fashion forwards and stand out from the rest of the bunch, are the one’s who take risks, and are unique.

Skinny Jeans look good on some and don’t look good on some. I can pull off the Skinny Jean and Leggings too. But I also like to wear the Boot Cut Jeans / Flare Jeans (NO BELL BOTTOMS). I try to mix it up all the time. I’ve always thought that the pant style didn’t matter, to me the cute little top, shoes and accesories are what I like the most.

I love layered effects too, and those cute dresses, like what Mischa Barton is wearing, I just love them.

But please, don’t bring back those Bell Bottoms, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, now that is a fashion NOT.
