Get the Look: Beyonce at the VMAs

If you’re like us, you looked at Beyonce at the VMAs last night and thought “WOW”! Forget the couture gown– her hair and makeup were just beautiful. We caught up with her beauty squad and snagged all the details on how she got so glam.

Her hairstylist, Kim Kimble, wanted to give her “something very feminine and very glamorous. I wanted to go sleek, sexy and fashionable-rocker hot because it is the VMAs.” Another consideration was keeping her hair looking good through a high energy performance. Kimble explains, “Because she is starting with a good cut and we curled her hair backwards, it will fall right back into place.” The whole process took 2 hours and started with blowing her hair straight, using a turbo ionic hairdryer and Kerastase mousse, and then curling it with a FHI big barrel curling iron. Kimble finished it off with a light misting of hair spray.

Her makeup artist, Francesca Tolot from the Cloutier Agency, recreated the look from her brand-new “Ring the Alarm” video. She started with L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Coffee over the whole face, and set it with a light dusting of La Mer Pressed Powder in Shell. She went over Beyonce’s lids with MAC eyeshadow in Bisque and higlighted the browbone with L’Oreal Eyeshadow Single in Copper Penny, before lining the eyes with Nars Eye Liner in Black Moon and finishing them off with Mac Eyelashes. Her lips were colored in with L’Oreal Hip Lipcolor in Fearless and polished off with a layer of L’Oreal Colour Juice Sheer Lip Gloss in Peek-A-Boo Clear.

Simply gorgeous!

What Was She Thinking? J.LO’s Headwrap

Maybe Jennifer didn’t have time to get her roots done again, but this glittery, grandma babushka certainly didn’t save her from having a bad hair day. The red-carpet ready star rarely missteps, but we have to say, she looks more apt to do a couple laps in the pool than prove to up-and-comers she’s still queen of the block. She is just too young and hot to start taking her fashion cues from Rhoda Morgenstern! Let those lovely locks flow, J. LO! Tell us: What do you think of her headwrap? Was it a hair-do or don’t? Mai Dinh

How to Dress Like a (Future) Princess

In this week’s PEOPLE magazine, you can see how Prince William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton’s style stacks up against his much-missed mother. As it turns out, Kate might be dating a Prince, but at least her wardrobe is achievable. Last week, she partied with Prince William and Prince Harry at the exclusive, member-only Cuckoo Club in London wearing an indigo flower print jersey dress from Topshop, a British store that is like H&M but better, costing only £38 (or $72)! A Topshop spokesperson confirms that “she often shops in Topshop.” The dress was in stores back in July and was so popular they have a mustard version out for Autumn/Winter. (Sadly, Topshop doesn’t ship to the US, but there are rumors that it is opening in New York next year.) Although, the fairy tale comes crashes down with her accessories — she was carrying a Mulberry Angelica bag in fuschia, which retais for £250 or $475. The fairytale always has to end, doesn’t it? — Monique Jessen
