Shop-n-Tell: Kornbread Shorts

Never one to jump blindly onto the fashion bandwagon, I wasn’t sure if cuffed shorts were for me. But on a trip to find my sister a birthday outfit, I discovered a gem: Kornbread shorts! These summer essentials were a funky green print straight out of Kenya, but with a couture cut. I had found something worthy of my chicken legs! They are Brigitte Bardot meets Josephine Baker, and I’m not the only one who thinks so. Nicole Richie and Diane Kruger, among others, have a pair of these African print shorts! Perfect for the beach or throw them on with some black leggings and pumps for a night on the hot Hollywood streets. Kornbread also offers dresses and tops for $130-$230. Grab them at Ron Herman, or if you are in Los Angeles, Diavolina on Robertson Blvd., 310-550-1341. — Amy Keith

Hilary Duff’s Latest Hit

As you may have noticed in our photo gallery, Hilary Duff has made a distinct break with her teeny-bopper image and started rocking some very cool and very grown-up looks. Last night atThe Late Show with David Letterman proved no exception. Hilary shone in a sparkly Cynthia Rowley cocktail dress (The Titanium) and killer silver stiletto sandals. The best part? The dress can be yours too– it’s online at Cynthia Rowley’s newly launched website. Love the dark nails too!

Can We Talk About Last Night’s Project Runway?

In Waste Not Want Not the designers were given a challenge that tested their resourcefulness: They were asked to create a runway look based on materials found at a garbage recycling plant (in New Jersey, none the less!). Using things like Mylar, newspapers, and rice sacks, the contestants made dresses that ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous. Lovely Alison (left) was sent home for making a frock that was unflattering and ill conceived. Michael was crowned winner for the second week in a row for his chic nighttime look. Click through to the next page to read more and leave a comment.
