Project Runway's Real Winners: Kara Janx Dresses

08/10/2006 at 05:00 AM ET

I am not someone who buys things off of TV, but I did succumb to the lures of Project Runway Season 2 contestant Kara Janx‘s signature kimono dress, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Not only is the stretch jersey dress wildly comfortable and flattering, but it somehow manages to be appropriate for every occasion (even my birthday dinner this year!), depending on what accessories you pair it with. Janx has produced a sleeveless version of the style for summer, that I think would look amazing over a contrasting t-shirt, and a silk jersey version for fall (available at ravinstyle.com) that I am going to have buy in the Indigo/Chocolate combo. And I am not alone in my love for this updated wrap dress: I’ve heard Natalie Portman and Julia Roberts are fans too! Available at karajanx.com, for $210-$350. — Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

Wow, these look really nice, and jersey is such a wonderfully “drapey” fabric. Style and comfort is always a winning combo!

I love the look especially with jeans.

I love this look, I like the gray and blue the best.

I agree with Lenora — the dress over jeans looks super-cool. Either way, the color combinations are absolutely yummy. I think I’m in love with them all!

These are super cute!! Don’t really like the dress worn with the jeans…it’s too much, especially if the dress is a cotton jersey material. If it were a thin knit or even a long chunky sweater it would be cute, but I don’t think it works. However, the dresses in gerenal are great, love the color combos!
