Secret Beauty Weapon: Time Balm Concealer

My hereditary dark undereye circles are the bane of my beauty existence, and my concealer is the most important product in my look-good arsenal. I don’t remember the last time I left my home without it on, and I am pretty sure that if there was a fire in the middle of the night, I would apply it before being rescued. Though I have tried almost every undereye concealer on the market, I am happy to say that I have a clear favorite: Time Balm in Light/Medium by The Balm. It’s simply amazing- melts perfectly up to my lashline, matches my skin color and makes me look like I have gotten at least eight hours of sleep every night of my life. And if you’ve ever wondered how Amanda Bynes or Kristin Cavalleri looks so rested all the time, now you know their secret, too. Available at timebalm.com or makeup.com,$16 — Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Pregnancy Style

Have you seen these photos of Maggie Gyllenhaal at the recent premieres of World Trade Center and Trust the Man? She’s seven months pregnant and, wow, she looks phenomenal. At right, she’s wearing a low-cut, navy chiffon, tea-length dress by Zac Posen– and, uh, clearly she’s embracing her new cleavage. An asymmetrical braided hairstyle, intriguing earrings and killer YSL pumps finish her look. The copper Marni dress she is wearing on the left is equally stunning and stylish. Most pregnant stars cut loose from looking good during their nine months- blame it on taking a hiatus from work and their stylists. In Britney Spears’ case, I say we start a charity fund and hire that stylist back for her!

I can’t imagine Maggie in a cutesy “I’ve Got the Golden Ticket” tank top or a “Bun in the Oven” oversized tee. In fact, I find her commitment to style pretty inspiring, especially when she’s battling stretch marks and pregnancy heartburn. I’m curious if she can somehow keep it up even during these oh-so-trying ankle-swelling last months before the baby arrives. What do you think? Can she make it without one big fashion slip up? –Alison Gee

Can We Talk About Last Night’s Project Runway?

Last night’s episode five of Project Runway gave the designers an entertaining challenge: to create a modern look for a fashion icon, among them: Cher, Madonna, Audrey Hepburn — all our favorites! This provided a few of the contestants with a chance to really strut their stuff, with high praise from the judges being passed towards previous winners Angela and Kayne. But it was Michael who wowed everyone with his modern Pam Grier in fuchsia hot pants (left) and won the challenge. Meanwhile, Vincent and Robert barely scraped by, while Bradley and his poorly constructed Cher ensemble were voted out.

Project Runway’s Real Winners: Kara Janx Dresses

I am not someone who buys things off of TV, but I did succumb to the lures of Project Runway Season 2 contestant Kara Janx’s signature kimono dress, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Not only is the stretch jersey dress wildly comfortable and flattering, but it somehow manages to be appropriate for every occasion (even my birthday dinner this year!), depending on what accessories you pair it with. Janx has produced a sleeveless version of the style for summer, that I think would look amazing over a contrasting t-shirt, and a silk jersey version for fall (available at ravinstyle.com) that I am going to have buy in the Indigo/Chocolate combo. And I am not alone in my love for this updated wrap dress: I’ve heard Natalie Portman and Julia Roberts are fans too! Available at karajanx.com, for $210-$350. — Melissa Liebling-Goldberg
