Mariah-Oh-Meter: Rate Her Look

How low did the scantily-dressed star go this weekend (with a one being Congresswoman conservative, and a ten being ready for her video vixen close-up)? Let’s check it out:

Exhibit A (left): The Adventures of Mimi Tour, Miami Saturday night
For this outfit, I’d rate Mariah an eight. She’s not quite off the charts, because she’s got her top and bottom both fully-covered (to which we say: Bravo, Mariah!), but that streaming chiffon—not to mention bare belly—definitely makes this borderline lingerie.

Exhibit B (near left): After-concert party, club Nocturnal
What, no plunging neckline? Or sky-high slit? Post-show, Mariah tones things down to a five, in a minidress that actually looks like it’s the right size.

On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate Mariah’s oh-factor in these looks? Let me know! Galina Espinoza

Handbag Hunt: Looking for a Convertible Like Liv’s

I have not yet reached a place in my life where I can spend more money on a handbag than I have on my refrigerator. But Liv Tyler’s convertible Prada handbag which costs about $2700 (several fridges!) is so everyday perfect, I am determined to find one similar. The beauty lies in its two handle-lengths design. That way, when the bag gets too heavy for your shoulder — as mine often does thanks to magazine overload — you can switch to carrying it by hand without having it dragging on the ground. Luckily, the “convertible” seems to be a popular model this season, and I have found a few variations. Which of these do you like the best? Have you seen any that I’ve missed? — Angela Matusik

1. (Above right) Active Endeavors’ Anna Corinna Lady Duffel, $429, looks amazingly versatile. But too much like a gym bag, perhaps?

2. Miu Miu’s Scamosciato Old Satchel, $1050 at Neiman Marcus, is similar to big sister Prada’s, but still a major investment.

3. Betsey Johnson’s large tote, $385 at Nordstrom, looks like it would do the job nicely, but I’m not sure about all that rock-n-roll hardware.

4. Anthropologie’s, Sly Fox shoulder bag, $578, is aptly named. It’s actually two handbags in one — sneaky!

5. And finally Cole Haan’s large convertible tote, $425, has all the tricks of the others, but looks a bit more sophisticated.

Gotta Get Jennifer Behr Headbands

Admit it. You haven’t seen this many of your friends wearing headbands since picture day in 2nd grade. But everywhere you look, starlets and civilians alike are in on the almost universally flattering and useful trend (this is definitely the moment to grow out your bangs.). But most headbands are so plain and functional that I can’t get excited about them, but designer Jennifer Behr’s defy convention. Stylesetters like Heidi Klum and Rachel Bilson (left) have already snapped up her delicate and ethereal creations, made from vintage ribbon and lace. My favorite are the feathered headbands, which are black-tie elegant yet utterly wearable with jeans and a t-shirt. Or if you are feeling a little tougher, check out her wide plaid headwraps. — Melissa Liebling-Goldberg
