Can We Talk About Last Night’s Project Runway?

08/03/2006 at 10:33 AM ET

In Reap What you Sew, the aptly named episode four of Project Runway, the designers were asked to make an outfit for INC/Macy’s: A tough challenge, but even harder when they were told to work in teams of three. Well before the judging, Keith was sent home for breaking some of the competition’s rules (more on that after the jump). After all the collaborating, sewing and strutting down the runway, Angela (left) came up from the ashes: She and her team won for their “Empire State Building” inspired outfit. (Click here to see it at Macy’s website.) Hmmm. Where have heard that one before? Got an opinion to share? Click through to the next page to join in the conversation!

Angela M. says:
Okay…. You call that a scandal? Was anybody else disappointed that all that hype didn’t add up to something more dramatic? A few tears at least! (Where’s Andre when you need him?) But Keith was annoying and amazingly smug, so I won’t miss him. As far as the winner, Angela’s team pulled it together and the outfit was nice — but aren’t cropped jackets over? Or should I say, aren’t they “Triple LY??” It seems like all the cute, harmless girls (Bonnie and Katherine) keep getting kicked off. If I had to put money on it, I’d pick Michael is the rising star.

Melissa says:
Michael is my pick for the rising star too! I think he’s secretly amazing, and I am just waiting for his shot at the spotlight. I still love that coffee filter dress. And Keith having pattern-making books?
Double snooze. I’m just sad that Robert is floundering right now. A little slutty but a little sporty sounds more like one of the Spice Girls than an outfit you would expect from a Barbie designer. Where’s
the pink and sparkly? It would have been more fun than that. And as for Angela’s redemption, whatever. I still hate those stupid rosettes. If I had to pick one piece from the show, I would have gone for Jeffrey’s
pants. They looked like Daryl K at her best. As for next week, I’m excited for them to remake Diane Von Furstenberg- totally gave it away in those sneak clips!

Allison says:
Someone, possibly Oscar Wilde, said the mark of genius is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in one’s head simultaneously. Definitely not claiming that for myself. I had four hours sleep after writing PEOPLE’s next cover story, so I’m a bit bleary, but here are my two semi-lucid opposing thoughts after this week’s PR:

1. Angela’s outfit was the rightful winner. I could totally see it in Macy’s. Wouldn’t necessarily buy it, but given the parameters of the challenge, she met it best.

2. I still loathe Angela and wish she could have won the challenge and been eliminated, if only for repeating that whole “inspired by the Empire State Building” bilge. Way to subconsciously remind people of PR season 1 winner Jay McCarroll’s “Chrysler Building” dress for Banana Republic! (No, he didn’t win that challenge; annoying Wendy did.)

Also, go back and check the record, but I believe I predicted it would be shifty Keith who got kicked out. Poor Alison & Sebelia had no chance despite their extra 1/3 effort -— no way was Heidi going to put Keith the Korrupt’s design in every major Macy’s in America.

Finally, my husband, also a loyal viewer despite owning only 2 pair of shoes that would be out of place at the gym, has nicknamed crazy Vincent, “Pinenut.”

Clarissa says:
Totally with you on Angela’s Jay McCarroll Chrysler Building rip off, Allison. Nina “I’m bored” Garcia should have been all over that. And I’d just like to point out that this is the FOURTH episode in a row in which Angela has worn a pouf skirt, or as Laura brilliantly stated, “a quilted extravaganza of pouf.” My Kajagoogoo CD (see last week’s post) is now officially cracked. In other news, who knew that Robert had such a buff little body underneath his prim button downs? The man wore not one, but two ridiculously tight tanks this episode. You go with your bad self, Mr. Barbie Designer. Let’s just hope that Vincent doesn’t follow his lead…there must be FCC regulations on how much chest hair is allowed on prime time TV.

Anne Marie says:

I totally thought of you Allison when Keith’s male pattern boldness was revealed (sorry, puns are so LY. I will now unsuccessfully hang myself with a coral cowl neck).

But come on, Keith still yielded three of the best, I’d-buy-them-if-I-had-the-scratch outfits, and yes, I’m including this weeks, even tho tattoo boy + side part did the work. And regarding his lying + cheating streak, he’ll fit right in to the fashion world. Steve Madden + Roberto Cavalli, anyone?

(Oh, and thanks for the Von Furstenburg spoiler! I had no idea! GRRRRR)

“Keith’s male pattern boldness”

Anne Marie – you funny lady!

Karen on

It was very easy early-on to see that Keith was going to be the one booted in last night’s episode. His body language (talking with his eyes closed for an extended period of time) is a liar’s mark.
The pink, brown and white cowl number looked like the uniform for a Baskin Robbins located in a retirement village.

Sophie on

I was also disappointed by the Keith pattern-book scandal. I thought that they’d open Bradley’s suitcase and find it full of crack- he is CRAZY! Like when he was saying Bonnie and Uli didn’t like him because of his beard…I honestly believe he is on crack, no joke. But he can design, even though I hated his dog-challenge outfit. Another thing…Angela. Is. Crazy. Without Michael (who I love) and Laura (hilarious) she definately would have rosetted that thing until it looked like one big, lumpy pincushion. The worst part of the episode was watching my favorite designer, Robert, create that 90′s sports jacket with the K-mart fake collar top! I hated it, but I do love Robert. I hope either him, Michael, or Uli wins.

renee on

ok,1st the keith thing; I’m soooooo gladed he’s gone. what a dumbass!either he or angie should have been auf-ed last week after their horriable dog outfits(he didn’t make a outfit for the bloodly dog(then lied”I made 4 outfits”yeah right),and her’s “English head mistress at a paris art camp for kids 6-12 having a birthday party for the camp’s mascot (the dog)pattycake”ok #1,the rosettes,STOP WITH THOSE STUPID ROSETTES!!! I agree with Laura they look like grandma crafts at a county fair, not high fashion.#2 that outfit looked like something ONLY paris hilton & her cronies would deem suitable for children!I’ve been to art camp they where jeans & tees like everyone body at camp(it’s camp!).
THE ONLY REASON ANGELA WON THIS WEEK WAS BECAUSE OF HER TEAMATES(she should worship the ground they walk on!)!!!
If it was it for them keeping her handicrafty that outfit to death.(I figured out why she didn’t like vincent’s Ms.USA’s dress it didn’t have rosettes on it,it was to plain, and she can’t have plan)
I’m not sure who I want in the final 3 there’s so much talent this year(Laura,mike-coffee filters that should have won, hands down-Allison-I think she’ll get a job from this no matter what-, robert-he’s had a few bad ideas but so did wendy-,kayne,and I just love Bradley-he so sweet,I just don’t want to see him go,and Uli-my mom loves her,she has her winning the whole thing)so it’s a toss up for me. I guess it depends on the clothes.

David on

Angela’s outfit was dated and ugly. She owes her well made garmentto her teamates who restrainedher from turning it into a clown costume. Really, can we stop with the rosettes already????
Keith’s look deserved to win. It was classic, but modern with excellent fabric choices. I understand why he had to leave. Rules are rules. It’s just very unfortunate because he should have won hands down with Allison coming in a close second. Fashion is about great ideas and taste. It’s knowing what to take away to make you want more. Keith is great at that.
While I think Kayne and Robert are mildly amusing, they have no taste beyond Barbie and pagents. Please!!!!

Dwayne on

I wasn’t personally wowed by any of the designs in this episode. Everything was so blah. The “Empire State Building during sunset” insperation was a rip off. Can you say Jay from season 1? At least you could tell his was in fact inspired by the Chrysler Building. How that outfit looked anything like the Empire State Building is beyond me. I don’t really see this outfit being a HUGE seller. I don’t think I have seen anyone wear something like that for at least 10 years and I don’t see it making a come back. The only thing that could have made it worse was her stupid signature rosettes. Thankfully her teammates saved her. Without her awesome teammates she would have been going home. Seeing Keith go was a relief. He is was too cocky and dishonest. I was kind of let down with it though because I thought it was going to be a much better reason. The only sad thing about him going was that Angela didn’t go with him. I really think Bradley is the Forrest Gump of fashion. I don’t think I have any other words to describe him. I think the past 2 seasons have had alot more talented and inspired designers. There are only 2 that I can even see at having any kind of chance at making it. Laura and Michael are probably the best out of the bunch. I actually like their ideas and think they are creative.

Brenda on

I love that you’re including all this commentary on Project Runway! I never watch reality TV shows but Project Runway is just so exciting, though I do wish Michael Kors would come back — his comments are so much more pithy than Vera Wang’s. What I like best about the show, though, is the element of surprise. The designer you think is going to win one week turns out to be the designer who’s eventually booted off; and the designer you might think is a loser turns out (sometimes) to come up with a fabulous winning design. I mean who thought Chloe Dow would win last time? Anyway, thanks for regularly writing about Project Runway — I think it’s the most interesting series on TV
and I never miss it! (I think Michael is amazing, too!)

carla on

I liked bonnie’s shirt under that ghastly coat, but only with that belt…what’s the other guy’s name who had the other low vote? robert? I just didn’t get why he would put that coat with that outfit…now, I do have to say, angela is just an oddball for me, i hate those poofy skirts and those silly rosettes, but I do have to say, she did deserve that win last night…as far as who I think will win, I’m laying claim to the blond girl, Alison. to me, she has the best flair while still maintaining classic designs. I also like Robert and Kayne…i don’t like vincent’s designs so much, but man, he makes the show for me because he’s so kooky! good luck to all of them!

Nadia on

Project Runway is a contest, and contests have rules. No matter how much talent Keith Michael has or thinks he has doesn’t exempt him from the rules. If he wanted to win the contest so bad, he should of stuck to the rules, instead of thinking he was above them.

christina on

so i basically loved keith and thought he was probably the best designer on the show and it sucked that he had to go like that. but i guess hes learned his lesson. i loathe angela. uugh, she makes me mad. but i agree, her look was the more wearable one and the most probable to see in a macy’s window. i cant waiiittt for next week?!

Denise on

I love Project Runway!

But boy am I glad they booted Keith off! It was like, WOO-HOO!!! He needs to get over himself – He’s a liar and a snake. He is so “Brion Jobe” it’s not even funny! (Pretends to be a “nice guy” but eventually shows his true colors i.e.; a mean and nasty person).

And can he play his own violin any louder?! The “I didn’t do anything wrong” even though I broke the rules song, is ridiculous. I guess every show needs a “Santino” though. Another “character” I loathed…

I feel bad for Angela. Where in the world did she get the idea that she could even enter a contest like this?! Poofy skirts and rosettes do not make a designer. She’s lucky she had her teammates or else she would’ve gone down in flames!

As for who will win, I think its a toss up – good luck to all who are still left.

mickey on

Watch your episode again people.

Angela’s sketch, not that far off from what the end product was.

Angela made the pants. She MADE THE PANTS. NOT Michael, NOT Laura.

She picked the fabrics

And do you really think that if Laura thought she and Michael did all the work, she would have kept her mouth shut about it? Ummm – NO!

Get over it people. And by the way yesterday on AOL Shopping — The bubble skirt is back. Guess she’s not so far off after all.

Rachel on

Michael Kors needs to come back! The judging is so boring without his opinions! Also, no more team challenges! I need to see who’s who as designers. I love what Michael, Uli and Alison have done so far and they need to be able to showcase their talents! It’s still early in the season and I can’t wait to see what’s next. I’m sure I won’t be disappointed!

Faith on

I thought that when Keith got the discount for the fabric, he broke the rules. If the budget is $100, why is it ok to ask for a discount if you go over?
makes no sense to me..
Faith

southern belle on

Keith got exactly what he deserved. The books were against the rules. Why should anyone believe that he didn’t use them, why would he have them if he had not or did not intend to use them. Also there is the time he was AWOL, he could have been doing anything to better his chances. He knows he is wrong and just wants to whine and get more attention. Poor, baby Keith! Give me a break!

Anne on

Hey Keith was wrong, if you can’t live by the rules, you die by the rules. His comments after the fact don’t make what he did right. He’s been seeing how far he could bend the rules since day one – now he’s been caught. Too bad. If he really wanted to win, he would have followed the rules like everyone else that has been on the show. And hello, I agree with Sophie – Bradley MUST be on crack…that boy is really screwed up, did you see how long it took to make a blouse!

Dee on

Faith, you are right!…Remember Season 1′s Finale when Kerasaun(sp) couldn’t use the shoes she designed for her clothing line because she received a discounted to keep her under budget!! And I’m glad Keith is gone even though I love all his designs. Some one please explain how Angela keeps dodging the bullet each week? I am so hoping that Wednesday will be her last show! My picks for the final are Laurie, Uli and Allison. Although I think Michael should be one of the finals, but he’s not getting the credit or attention he deserves. His coffee filter dress was awesome and should have won the challege. And as it was previously mentioned the most deserving designer is not the one who will win. However, I LOVE THIS SHOW! My daughter and I always have great conversation during our commute to work the next day.

Stacy on

I loved Keith’s impeccable designs! Beautifully clean lines!
His impish personality!(Adorable!!) I think Project Runway has lost their best designer.

Tara on

I think the whole thing is a big scam by the show– for ratings–let’s not be naive-they search their luggage when they arrive ( Kayne made that comment on the show)…so why were the books not taken then? I am really disappointed in the show…And just so we are straight–”original” and “fashion” don’t go together , please!!– its all been done before the major fashion houses just recycle– that’s why we are wearing 70′s and 80′s throwbacks now

syphax on

Keith had to go! He is great a t SUPERVISING and would have won the challenge. Michael and Laura are excellent and I hope to see them in the final three. Robert along with whats his face are both (say it with me now) CRAZY!! period. As for Angela, well she really does try to add her own unique touch with the little puffs, and that ghastly poof skirt, Bless her Heart!
Next week should be interesting, If only the show were really about being a designer and not the view-ability, of the contestants, then it may prove interesting. But alas it is Televison, and boring people don’t sell advertising space, do they now?

Laura on

He knew what the rules were…Why does he think that they
do not apply to him? I mean without excuses..?
Keith needs to grow up, take responsibility for his own
actions. And not whine when the world doesn’t kiss his
bottom.. Truly Laura…Its also about integrity isn’t it?

Kathy on

Am I the only one who notices Keith’s strong resemblence to Greg Kinnear? With his looks and confidence, I see movie roles ahead! Is it really any worse that he had a couple of books in his room, then the fact that Kara Saun had custom made shoes for the finale? I think not. How about giving him a punishment, like only one day to complete a project. I think he had the most promise of talent, for main-stream. And although Malan’s style was terrible, I loved his personality and mix in the group. C’mon give Keith a “get out of jail free” card.

Jean on

Whether he used the books or not is not the problem here. What is, is the fact that he broke the rules, and therefore deserved to be kicked off. Maybe he is the most talented. If so he’ll make it without the show. I believe he’s part of a generation who thinks the rules are not for them. Get over it Keith! You sound like a cry baby, and no one likes that. If you’re as talented as “you” think you are, get busy and start working and get ready for the show. You’ve already had the best advertising anyone could get!

Kent Willhoite on

I really liked Keith’s designs, however if he broke the rules then he had to go and I agree with some others’ thoughts about having Michael Kors back and also no more team challenges.

Journi on

Rules are just that….Rules. If you don’t follow the rules you don’t have a leg to stand on….period. Get over it Keith…move on….

Kalea on

I am always amazed that some people just believe that rules are not really rules…or if they are really rules they don’t apply to them!! This attitude of “I really didn’t mean to cheat” or “I am so talented that the rules should not apply to me” is why Keith is no longer on the show. Rules are in place for several reasons..two which are:
1) To give everyone an even playing field and 2)To weed out trouble makers that no one would want to work with anyway.
My suggestion to Keith is to own up to his error…try to salvage some self-respect and possibly the respect of others by giving up the whining and excuse making. Dignity is often the best you can hope for…and the rest will follow!

Beth on

There’s one more offense on Keith’s part that everyone seems to be glossing over: he bullied the owners of Mood into giving him a discount when he went over the allotted $100 for spending. That should have been brought out in the list of things he did that were against show policy. While I was watching, I thought for certain that doing that would be the reason he would be kicked off. Why is everyone neglecting to bring that up?

Ellen on

Project Runway is disgusting and I will not watch it anyone after their attack on Keith. I believe his side is well justified for him to having stayed. I refuse to watch the show anymore.

LeDornai on

Right is Right. Rules are not made to bend to one’s whim. The show was right to ask Keith to leave.

Bebe on

I totally understand why they didn’t pick Keith Michael’s outfit. As it was sensationally the BEST and should have won… How could they pick Keith to win the INC challenge when he was kicked off? Rules are rules but I am sure that Keith Michael will rule the Fashion World, just like in the movie: The Devil Wears Prada.

JoanCarol on

I think the producers wanted Angela to win just so they could see what amusing abomation she will come up if she has immunity.

LKB on

First off, I have to say that I liked Angela’s outfit the best. It was the closest thing made that they were asked to do. I do think “enough already with the rosettes”. But they worked with this outfit.

As for Keith’s design, YUCK!! What were those things hanging off of the model’s hips?! Those hoop things dangling off her hips made me just gag at the entire outfit. If they had left that part off, the outfit would have been much better, IMO.

R L Fleming on

I keep reading how talented Keith was. What talent does it take to throw a bracelet on a dog for a collar? In my opinion he did not complete the accessory task and should have bee auf-ed right then. The producers wanted his personality, not his talent, on the show and that is why he survived the accessory challenge. I can’t believe the people can’t see past his ego. Not only does he believe his lies about his talent, so do many viewers. He is a great salesman, but designer? Not in my book. Only his last design was good in my opinion.

Judy on

I have been so hooked on PR since Season 1. I agree: no more team challenges; individuals don’t get a chance to shine while making someone else’s garment. Keith needed to go; not only for breaking the rules, but because he was soooo arrogant. What a pompous ass. I too feel bad for Angela, but Laura and Michael sure saved her bacon on Wednesday. Wednesday nights are my favorite TV night because of Project Runway.

Terry on

Keith almost had me on his side…..till he decided to talk about skinning cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hamy on

He cheated THREE times in that one episode! He asked for special treatment at Mode (98 dollars miraculously becomes 80!) He left the show and used the internet, and had the books. Regardless of what he did with the books, what he did on the internet, how he got special treatment, it all is cheating according to the rules. Remember how much trouble Kerasaun got into with the shoes incident during the first PR season? A cheat is a cheat and he may now say that he didn’t do anything, but during the episode last night, he sure owned up to it.

marianne on

I thik they were right to have Keith taken off the show but what i am wondering about is What Cain (who has no talent) is going to dig up in the next contendant?

SHANNON on

GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!!!IN ANY COMPETITON YOU ARE GOING TO TRY TO WIN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.KEITH JUST GOT CAUGHT.

SHANNON on

COME ON EVERYONE CHEATS IN A COMPETITION! KEITH JUST GOT CAUGHT.

Joyce on

Keith was arrogant and full of himself since the beginning. He thought he was too good to make a dog outfit, despite the fact that that was the assignment. He thought he was beyond the rules, and he found out he was wrong – too bad! Good riddance!

Dana on

Guys, go to the Macy page with the winning design….are the Angela rosettes there or not? I don’t see ‘em! Did that red headed mom get her scissors out last minute before it went out of Parsons?

Angela M. on

Oh yeah, the rosettas are there. If you use the zoom in tool you can see them.

Mary on

I’ve been an avid watch of PR since its first showing. I subscribed to Tim Gunn’s podcasts in Season Two for the whole backstory on each episode. For the whole scoop on Keith’s cheating – how he responded, what the details were, etc. – go to bravotv.com and listen to Tim Gunn’s podcast. It’s very revealing, and leaves no doubt that the producers made the right decision. Editing is a fact of life on reality shows – get the whole scoop right from Tim.

ready red on

keith was a stinky cheater. even I, an amateur sew-on-my-$100-WalMart machine would have respected the Runway rules enough not to bring the fashion 101 manuals. and isn’t begging for discounts the same as accepting freebies or enlisting friends to help you produce wearable garments. PUH-LEEZ!!! Re: Angela, she is delusional and misguided, and needs to go ASAP. Even Laura, who can come off a bit traditional, has some edge. I hope Uli wins; she’s the only one that doesn’t have her head . . . well, you know the rest.

Teresa on

I kind of knew from the beginning that Keith would be the one to get the ax but when I saw what he did at MOOD when they were buying their materials I knew. I mean, come on, he even said it, ” I will break the rules sometimes when I think I’m right.”. or something to that effect and that’s exactly what he did.
He says in his article to People Magazine that he feels he got a raw deal. He only had those books in his room to use for a line of menswear he was working on. Yeah right! Anyone who really believes that wave their hand!
He felt so sorry for himself for getting caught I almost got sick. That apology for to the other men was a joke! Was that only for a future sound bite or something Keith or did you really expect someone to believe you were sorry when you already admit you are a born cheater. I couldn’t be more glad that he got tossed. Arogance not only breeds contempt but in this case it gave me a dam good laugh. Buh bye butthead.
As for the rest of the cast, I think they are all pretty cool, accept for Angela and maybe Laura gets on my nerves a bit but that could just be the lipstick. I hope Angela plans on giving most of the credit for her win to the designers she was with because she certainly doesn’t deserve it. They corrected every insane thing she tried to do. Frankly, if she were designing clothes for toddlers or small girls I might be more inclined to admire her work but as it is does she really expect grown women who have any sense of style at all to wear the crab she designs? I can’t wait until she tries to dress Diane Von Furstenburg in a puffy satin skirt with , as keith pointed out and his only real contribution to the show, a bag of skittled covered rosettes with black patterned tights and hiking boots. She looks like a complete ass wearing that crap on. She’s way too old to try to pull off a teeny bopper look. No doubt she will end up being one of those old grandma types walking around with overtanned leathery skin who still try to wear black leather mini skirts with tank T’s showing off saggy boops and age spots. Whew! I’m glad I finally got that off my well covered chest!
Robert if you ever read these.. YUM!!! Bradley.. you are so sweet and goofy who couldn’t love you. Vince.. nutty but nice, Jeffrey..scary but not a tough guy really I suspect, Michael very sweet and stylish. Alison how beautiful you are! Laura, what the hell? Five kids..but you do look lovely most of the time. You are all really talented. My pick is alison to win.. I really think she is going to shine in the next couple of weeks and I expect Yummy Robert and Michael to be there with her at the final three.

don on

Why doesnt his behavior come as any surprise? The way he tried to deceive the judges with the dog costume, trying to say he make the collar, until Heidi confronted him. Then the pressuring of the sales people at the material store, to purchase below the budget. I’m sure he would have done other shady stuff, if he wasn’t given the boot….

Ron on

Well I love the series. The doggie accessory challenge totally blew. I realize people get insane when it comes to dressing their pets. Keith’s design was best and the dog was taken care of to some degree, he should have won imho. I also agree he broke the rules, regardless of how the books were being used or how the internet was being used, he had to pay the price. You don’t bring a laptop to look up prices on the Price is Right??? Angela, omg, you need to leave rosettes to the gardeners. They don’t belong on clothing. Very kitch looking to me. Someone mentioned poofy skirts back in style….deeeeeeeeeeerrrrr…It is not that something is in style just because some lame brain puts it in a catalog or online. I cringe when I go shopping with my wife or daughter. The racks are filled with hoochy clothing, goth crappola, moo moo’s, gangster wannabee’s or to the other extreme with clothing that my great grandmother would have worn…Where is the happy middle ground? I am an artist and I find that the thirty minutes they give them to sketch out an idea etc is pretty unfair. That wouldn’t happen in the real world. Time is precious, but creativity is even more precious. Give them the challenge and let them take their little pads of paper and pencils back to their dorms and come in the following day with a more finished idea. You might just end up with a more interesting line of clothing shown ergo a more interesting program…one last point…Angela, please please please change your personal wardrobe…an aging woman, with Cyndi Lauper hair and a 1980′s young girl clothing makes no sense. Your taste in design apparently leaves a bad taste in the viewers mouth as well. I can’t believe the judges picked you. Mind boggling. They are apparently lacking in taste and judgement as well.

JUSTINE on

I love project runway, i am very sorry that Keith was kicked off, I guess rules are rules and if you can’t follow them he shouldn’t have been in the show in the first place. I did like him and i had the money to help him start his on line and have the show he wants i would give it to him in a heartbeat! As for Angela, even though I think she should have been gone since the second show, I admired her work for INC, I hope she continues to do work like that and that she forgets about those silly skirts that only size 0 women]girls can wear.

Christine on

Angela has the worst taste. My god, the flourishes she adds are so tacky, not at all stylish or ‘urban.’ Where is she from, the middle of nowhere? Women don’t want to look like tarts. At least not the women in NY, where I’m from. I really loved the other outfit that was made for the latest challenge, and that should have been in the window. Although I like the asthetic of Michael and Laura.

Debbie on

I don’t see what’s so wrong with having pattern making books anyway! I use patterns from different companies, different styles and add or subtract little touches of my own to them to make things all the time! I would love to learn to be a pattern maker! But I never knew where to go! And lots of people have really good ideas about things, and can design all sorts of lovely items–but don’t have the pattern making skills–that doesn’t mean they can’t design–it just means they can’t sew!

Judy on

Of all the contestents, Alison, Uli, and Michael are the ones to watch. I wouldn’t be surprised to find them in the final top three. PR rules. I watch it over and over again. I glad Keith is gone. He had some talent and most attitude.

JimG on

My major beef with the show is that they don’t spend enough time visually showing the garment once it hits the runway. They show the designer’s faces, the reaction of the judges and a snip or two of the actual clothes. That’s the main reason I watch it. Yes the backstory can be interesting, but at the end of the day, I want to see as clearly as possible what it is they are actually making.

DonnaB on

How did I miss this show for the first 2 seasons???? I LOVE IT!

I’m going all in with my bet that Laura will win the prize this season. She’s amazing. Her designs are classic and her execution is immaculate! If she has a flaw, it’s that she seems to always designs high-end looks which are appropriate for a mature buyer. She needs to work on making some hip, young designs. Uli seems to have the corner on THAT market.

If Laura doesn’t win, it should be Michael. His stuff is also VERY well made.

The burning question I have is . . . why is Tattoo-neck-boy STILL ON THE SHOW? The pants he made looked good, but everything else he’s turned in has been crap. Why isn’t he in the best and worst showdown every week – as an example of the WORST. What WAS that gown he designed for Miss America? Even he described it as “grotesque”. Even though Angela kind of bugs me, I’ll take a “FemiNazi” like her over a misogynist like Tatto-neck-boy any day.

I loved the comment above describing Bradley as The Forrest Gump of Fashion! LOL Now THAT was funny. I think he’s the most likeable of the lot of them. Ya, he’s odd, but odd isn’t always a bad thing. Especially for a fashion designer.

As for Keith. *sigh* Keith, Keith, Keith. What WERE you thinking? Oh ya, you were thinking you could “bend” the rules to suit yourself. What a dope to bring in design books. Maybe that’s one of the things he did when he went AWOL for those four hours – went to his boyfriend’s house, checked is email, and picked up his cheat-sheets. Idiot.

In all fairness, if you can charm people into giving you what you want, you should take advantage of that skill. Keith didn’t force the proprietor of Mood Fabrics to give him a discount. He just asked for it. You’d be surprised what kind of stuff you can get for free just by asking. I think it was a smart move on his part. Ya, he’s egocentric – I don’t know any fashion designers who aren’t. Ya, he thought he was better than everyone else – don’t they all? Attitude is part of the game here folks, and he was playing it for all it was worth. I’m going to miss him and his designs. He was a pain in the hind-end, but he was fun to watch.

Last but not least – Angela. I’m sick to death of the puffy skirt but I gotta hand it to her, she’s at the forefront of fashion in them. Those skirts are EVERYWHERE, and no matter WHERE they are . . . they’re STILL FUGLY. The rosettes just make them worse. I was glad to hear her say she’s “obsessed with them right now.” That gives me hope that it’s just a momentary obsession that she’ll soon get over. The sooner the better works well for me. I absolutely agree that the only reason she won the last challenge was because she chose her teammates well. They saved her fanny by keeping her from covering the Empire State Building in fabric rosettes.

Any bets she’ll wear ANOTHER puff skirt next week? Or will it be another pair of cavalry fatigues with contrasting print saddle? Yikes. Along with Heidi, Nina, and Vera . . . I question her taste.

Keith’s designs were the first real fashion-forward/innovative designs that we’ve seen from a PR contestant. I can’t stand pagent boy Dolly Parton loving Kane, ugh, he tries to play innocent, but the other contestants better watch their backs before ginger-boy sticks a knife into them. Uli is stupid for thinking that taking keith’s model will some how transform all her designs into wins. I much prefer season 2′s designers -who were loyal to their model, except for the muslin stealing zulema. I don’t get laura’s style in design, it kinda reminds me of cruella de ville, and laura hates dogs.

I have enjoyed PRW this season so far, I think the challenges are far more challenging than the prior 2 seasons. With Keith being kicked off I was not expecting to see anyone else get aufed this week, I thought that it would be a “free” week. I am however excited for Angela and her team. I love all three, I think that they will be the three to beat, they all have their own style but they all now the wants of the fashion industry. I would totally wear their outfit, and hope to be able to purchase it ASAP.

I think they made a big deal of the Keith thing. If their going to let people get discounts on their purchses thats cheating also. They searched all bags before they moved in if they had a problem wit it they shuld have stopped it then not 3 weeks into the competion. Maybe they should just stat all over and bring everyone who’s been gone and try again, That only seems fair. If their going to allow one person to break the rules they should let everyone. Its not like he copied patterns.

I am so tired of people who break rules and then complain because there is a consequence. Today if you are under 30, you feel the rules DO NOT apply to you and it is OK to do whatever it takes to get by. What happened to integrity and honesty? If you can’t live by the rules of the game, whatever that game is, then stay home, shut up and dont make the rest of us listen to your whining and complaining. KEITH deserved exactly what happened to him…..seems funny the word JUST seems to pop up when wrongdoing is discovered. I was JUST visiting my boyfriends place etc etc. WHO CARES. People who feel sorry for him or agree with him are just as ignorant.
So goodbye Keith, they were JUST trying to keep the show on the up and up. I wont miss you and your “I always break rules anyway” and by they way……wasnt it KEITH who asked for the discount to stay under $100?? See what I mean…he deserves to be GONE.

I think it was right for PR to ask Keith to leave. He knew the rules and he broke them. I agree with the multiple people that stated he should have been removed after the bargining down the fabrics. He’s a cheater and a liar. I don’t care what he used the books for, he had them and he knew he shouldn’t. (I don’t like the way that Kayne tattled like a three year old, however.)

I disagree with the comment about those of us under 30. I follow the rules, play fair, and I’m very honest. I don’t like that generalization and it was rude. I also want to point out that Keith was over 30. Nice try. He belongs to your age group, pal.

I love the show, I dislike Angela and her stupid rosettes. Uli is my favorite. :)

I don’t think it’s naive to believe that those books showed up AFTER the luggage was searched. Keith did leave the show for a four hour period of time when he allegedly went to his boyfriend’s house to use the internet. He could have brought the books back then. He’s a jerk, face facts.. He did what he knew was against the rules and he got caught. As for his claim that he never used those books, a liar looks at the floor, an honest man looks you in the eyes. He’s a liar and a really, really bad one.
Keith. give it up man. You got what you deserved. Stop being such a whiny little girl and move on.

Well he said on the show that ‘I’m going to be the laughing stock among my friends’, and now that is what he is.

He’s not owning up to this? Why does that not suprise me.
