Nicky’s Got a Brand New Bag

We all know that Nicky Hilton loves purses. In fact, she loves them so much that she has a whole line of bags that are huge in Japan. We also all know that the Hiltons like to flaunt it if they’ve got it, so it’s also not much of a surprise that Nicky would carry a brightly hued, logo laden Fendi Spy bag, the It-bag of Summer 2006. But did you know that Nicky might also love a good deal? I hope for her sake she was the last one to snatch up this bag on Bluefly rather than dropping the whole $2000+ bucks on it because come fall, this golden bag of summer will definitely have lost its lustre. — Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

What’s Up With That? Skirts As Dresses

Sometimes a photo does inspire at least 1000 words. The blogosphere was buzzing over Keira Knightley’s recent outfit donned during a grocery- shopping excursion with perma-grunge boyfriend Rupert Friend. It’s probably not a cut up pillowcase (as mentioned on Go Fug Yourself ) or a tucked up sheet (as mentioned on PopSugar ). My guess is that it’s a skirt doing double duty as a strapless sundress, a look seen on multi-tasking NYC fashionistas. Barring sudden movements or stiff breezes, the belt-as-bra is holding up this concoction for dear life. When most starlets wear a dress once and banish it to the back of the closet forever, you have to at least admire Keira’s desire to get the max out of her wardrobe. — Melisssa Liebling-Goldberg

Kate Hudson’s New Uses for Old Scarves

Kate breezes along like her scarf/sling is the easiest thing in the world, but am I the only one wondering how Ryder stays put? Or gets in? And does it come pre-tied or is there an instruction manual that requires the skills of a boyscout? Still, there’s no arguing that with this look – and please note her perfect posture – Kate once again shows she’s one of the chicest young moms around. Do you know where this baby carrier is from? Let us know! See more pictures of wondermom Kate Hudson here. — Jason Arbuckle

Jamie-Lynn’s Growing Meadow

Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s hair is about a half a foot longer now than it was last week — and she can thank hair stylist Eliut Rivera for her lush new mane. Rivera used Great Lengths Hair Extensions on Sigler’s do, adding six plus inches of hair. The cost? About $3000. Time? About four hours. Rivera gave us a few tips for Jamie and other girls who want to know how to keep extensions looking gorgeous:

1) Always brush hair with extensions by using a paddle brush with natural bristles.

2) Always sleep with hair tied back in a ponytail to avoid tangles.

3) Never get a conditioning treament while extensions are attached — it can soften the glue and cause them to fall out!

For more information, visit Rivera’s site.

Can We Talk About Last Night’s Project Runway?

In episode two of Project Runway, the contestants were asked to design a pageant gown for Miss USA, Tara Conner. Kayne, who seems to have been raised by beauty queens, won the challenge, while the debonaire Malan (left) was voted out. Wacky Couture: Which Celeb Could Wear This?

I was flipping through WWD the other day and saw John Galliano’s latest collection for Christian Dior. He says he was inspired by “Lucifer” and, well, you can tell he had a pretty weird muse. I immediately began to wonder who among Hollywood’s A-list could pull this off on the red carpet. My answer: Nicole Kidman. She’s one of the few actresses to have that magical combination of iconic beauty, poise and sense of humor even to dare silhouettes like these. Who else? Gwyneth Paltrow on a good night. Chloe Sevigny, who is jolie-laid personified. And maybe China’s Zhang Ziyi? Who do you think would — or could — get away with this outrageous look? — Alison Gee

The Devil May Wear Prada, But I Want Red Lipstick

When Anne Hathaway reveals her made-over self in one of the best scenes from The Devil Wears Prada , the audience around me started oohing and aahing at the sight of her in Chanel. I, on the other hand, couldn’t stop thinking, “Wow—those lips! Those eyes! That incredible skin!” By the end of the movie, I was convinced it was time for me to chuck my bronzer and finally get around to finding that perfect shade of red lipstick. Fortunately, Sephora has done all the work for me, sitting down with the film’s makeup artist, Nicki Ledermann, for the inside scoop on how to have a face that screams fashionista. — Galina Espinoza
