Kate Hudson's New Uses for Old Scarves

07/21/2006 at 04:39 PM ET

Kate breezes along like her scarf/sling is the easiest thing in the world, but am I the only one wondering how Ryder stays put? Or gets in? And does it come pre-tied or is there an instruction manual that requires the skills of a boyscout? Still, there’s no arguing that with this look – and please note her perfect posture – Kate once again shows she’s one of the chicest young moms around. Do you know where this baby carrier is from? Let us know! See more pictures of wondermom Kate Hudson here. — Jason Arbuckle

Great way to recycle.

That is a linen ring sling. Very common among moms who lean towards the natural side of things, as well as some mainstream moms!

He stays put because you thread the fabric through the rings, leaving it loose, pick him up, sit him in it, spread out the bottom so his knees are as high are or preferably higher than his bump, and tighten the fabric. He’s sitting in a fabric seat, basically. And it’s really comfy on mom’s back because it distributes the weight.

We did a post on Kate and her particular sling here: http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2006/04/kate_hudson_sli.html

Her sling is PSlingNY brand, and is pretty pricey.

I wrote that too fast! Should read, “His knees are as high as or preferably higher than his bum.”

It’s really not that hard to sling your toddler (or baby)

No need for a boyscout manual, just a little common sense.

That is, in fact, a ring sling, and it’s a miliion times better than a Baby Bjorn if only for one reason…I dare her to try to put Ryder in a Bjorn at that size. Her ring sling could be used from the day her baby was born till he finally wants to get out.

Oh, and Kate, if you come across this, that’ll be a lot more comfy if you spread some of that fabric across your shoulder.

I think Britney could use one (or more) of these. She’s always pictured carrying
Sean Preston and sometimes seems to have a precarious hold on her son. This would free her up for better balance overall.
Not sure how it would work when you’re pregnant, though.

Ok people get a grip. It’s just a big piece of fabric & the trick is in how you tie it. Millions of women in developing countries all around the world have been carrying their children like this for eons. Want to know how to tie yours, ask one of them! Genius.

It sure would be great to see a celebrity wearing a babe in just a knotted simple piece of cloth (or wrap) ~ but a linen sling like the one Kate has on here is super chic, and a great alternative! Go Kate!

I had one of these for my daughter and I absolutely loved it. It even made it easy for her clumsy, all-thumbs daddy to feel comfortable carrying her. It really is a must have for moms, I think. When they’re tiny they’re just tucked away inside all swaddled up like they like to be. As they grow it remains comfortable for both mom and baby, and mom has more flexibility with her hands. Mine was not expensive, although I’m sure they’re like everything else, you can buy em cheap all the way up to expensive.

Someone tell her to cut that boys hair.

can someone please try and help me. Kate Hudson wore a necklace black beads sorts of 2 layers longish with a silver cross at the bottom. How do I go about trying to find out where I can purchase this same necklace. Thanks
